Honda Indonesia Pull Dozens of Thousand Honda Jazz – PT Honda Prospect Motor, Friday, February 18, 2011, announced it would withdraw (recall) 30 525 units of Honda cars in order to replace a lost motion spring component.
This withdrawal involves 16,300 units of Honda Jazz (production June 2008 – March 2010), 10 592 units of Freed (production in May 2009 – February 2010), and 3360 units of the City (production in October 2008 – January 2010).
Honda Indonesia declares, components lost motion spring, which serves to suppress the driving arm (rocker arm) at low rpm, after a certain period of time can be warped and broken, causing abnormal engine sounds.
This damage could potentially lead to machine downtime. This component contained in the rocker arm VTEC engine on most Honda Jazz, Honda City, Honda Freed and produced in a specified period.
President Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor, Yukihiro Aoshima, said the company has received reports of 15 cases of damage to these components. All cases occurred in the condition of the car is stopped (stationary), shortly after the engine started.
In those cases, excessive abnormal sound appears and can be heard. “There are no reports of accidents or injuries that never happened,” said Yukihiro.
Honda Indonesia expressed readiness to replace a lost motion spring on all the identified car without charge. Honda will also inform them directly to car owners to make improvements.
Consumers are advised to book the car identified the replacement of components at the official Honda shop. Replacement process takes 3 hours.
Replacement components will start on 28 February in all Java, and on March 2 for the region outside Java. This program will last for 6 months.
